West Loop Craft Beer Festival

The West Loop Craft Beer Festival took place on Saturday, June 13, 2015 on Clinton St. between Lake St. and Washington Blvd between noon and 5pm.

There were over forty breweries pouring samples of craft beer, a variety of food vendors from the French Market, and some fun surprises that celebrated the West Loop of Chicago as well.

Proceeds from the festival support Neighbors of West Loop, a non-profit 501(c)3 volunteer-run community organization comprised of local residents who volunteer their time and talents to enhance the quality of life for residents in the West Loop.

West Loop History & Craft Beer

Larry Gage and Pete Crowley spoke about celebrating craft beer on the streets of Chicago in 2011. They both participated in a re-enactment of the Haymarket Riot at the site of the actual event 125 years later. Pete named Haymarket Pub & Brewery, including many of his fine craft brews, after the historical event.

Follow the story of how that conversation led to another historical event just down the street from the Haymarket Riot. In May of 2013, members of NoWL worked with the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild (ICBG) to produce the first craft beer festival to take place on Chicago city streets, serving as the closing ceremony of the ICBG’s Chicago Craft Beer Week.

On June 13, 2015, Neighbors of West Loop continued to celebrate  Chicago’s West Loop and the craft beer industry. We are exploring opportunities to bring the West Loop Craft Beer Festival back to the neighborhood!
